Welcome to Poetry, Pure Poetry. We are a social network of poets and people who enjoy poetry. Within this network we organize, socialize, evangelize, colonize, memorize, recognize, harmonize, symbolize, realize, individualize, vocalize, criticize, personalize, generalize, dramatize, idealize, emphasize and visualize the work of our poet user base as we mesmerize our poetry readers.
We exist to provide poets a culture of free and open communication to advance their work, share their poetry, grow their poetry circles and organize poetry events.
We hope to collect a genuine "Who's Who" of poet profiles, the poetry circles where they read, the gigs at which they perform, and blogs where poets can exchange upon how to be better poets. Our goal is to foster, create, and support a host of new poetry circles that may meet within a variety of venues, whether they be public open mic events in a coffeehouse, or private readings between close friends in someone's home.
As the website name suggests, this website seeks to eliminate the distractions of games, marketing and marketing website trickery that are all too common within larger social networks. This, of course, excludes official "Poetry, Pure Poetry Gear", new poetry book releases, and other poetry related stuff that we will offer (unobtrusively) to help promote the website, and support our mission. We intend to keep this website free to our users; free of advertisements that do not directly support the website or its users, and free of Internet "noise", to keep it Poetry, Pure Poetry.

It's a virtual place on the Internet, for poets and people who enjoy poetry, that enables the creation of new poetry circles and perpetuates poetry circle participation using a Web 2.0 communication framework.
Though not required to use this service, we stay advertisement free and maintain the quality of the site through user donations. If you would like to make a small donation to help us support and grow this service, please press the button below. We really appreciate it. Thanks!
Our Vision:
Poets do not usually belong to a single Poetry Circle, they belong to many. We are on a mission to identify or create 10,000+ poetry circles to propagate poetry throughout our culture and grow new poets. We need your help. Share our website by word of mouth, invite your fellow poets, create new poet circles, plug us (as you plug your own poetry circle) at events and open mics, and help us get the word out about Poetry, Pure Poetry.
Poetry, Pure Poetry Gear:
Speaking of getting the word out... Please take a look at our Poetry, Pure Poetry gear. (More coming.) Not only will you be stylin' in Poet Black (or be able to buy other cool products), but your purchase will go a long way toward helping us keep this website free, and free of ads.
Visit our Poetry, Pure Poetry Gear Catalog.
Spread the Word:
As a member of the Poetry, Pure Poetry community. If you enjoy our service, it is important to help us spread the word within your local poetry communities, as you spread the word about your own Poetry Circle. This can be done a number of ways. A popular method is to post your poetry event on Craigslist, and reference to your group here. Another is to use any one your favorite social networking sites. We offer the following widget here and throughout the web site to help you out.
One of the ways that we suggest is to use Poetry Circle Gig Drop Cards at the poetry gigs that you go to. These cards are easily customized to represent your group and are available within our Poetry, Pure Poetry Gear Catalog.
A Special Thanks:
We would like to extend a special thanks to Mongo at the Indiefeed Performance Poetry Channel who is just awesome enough to let us use his podcast as a key part of the website. This channel exposes us to a wide selection of different poetic styles of cutting edge poetry. For more information on the Indiefeed Performance Poetry Channel, and how to download this poetry directly into your iPod or MP3 player, go to the Indiefeed Performance Poetry Channel.
